Perhaps I should have used a different word, then. I intended 'deprecate' to mean 'finally withdraw support for'. We know that some MNOs have already shut their 3G networks down and others will do so next year, but that's their decision. How would you describe the 2021 decision I quoted?

@Ildhund -  it's irrelevant. My point/main concern was that your post as it stood, could have left the impression that 3G was going to be available until 2033, those of us "in the know" aren't the only ones that read posts here. The issue has now been well covered here, so nothing further to add.
