Removing a smell from my home

I got a wrap done for my kitchen worktop sadly the guy smoked so I’ve had a musty smell in my home for days. I decided to tonight have the wrap removed and hope a new wrap from a different guy will solve the issue. I have tried opening the door but the smell has stuck to my dishes and tumble dryer. What else can I do? Perhaps the new wrap will solve the issue?

baking soda sprinkled everywhere plus open bowls of it to absorb the smell might help.

wash all the dishes and give the dryer a good wipe with vinegar.  it'll end up smelling like a chip shop but that's a bit nicer at least!!

Is it the wrap that's smelling? Wipe with something like white vinegar, wipe again with a paper towel and polish with a cloth.
leave a while and sniff right on the worktop.

Or get some cheap candles and light them in the kitchen. Allow to burn for an hour or two and extinguish. That often absorbs the smell of smoke.

It seems unlikely that it is the wrap. Have you opened windows and doors for a morning?

He smoked outside but the smell has come inside as he had it on worktops ect. Might even try give things a paint down to see if that helps? Smell seems confined to kitchen but when open door can smell it. Not sure how long it will actually last? I guess keeping doors open? Windows can help?

Yes I opened them but maybe need them open longer. I can try candles and maybe tumble dryer sheets. I don’t know exactly what the smell is to be honest. Feels an unclean smell. Will also try doing some painting and the guy today will remove the existing wrap and put a new one on.

I hate smoking so Im not trying to trivialise this but I really dont think someone working in your home for a few hours and who smoked outside has caused a smell that lingered for days.

I detest the smell of cigarette smoke and will go to great lengths to avoid it. During the last summer I had contractors pointing my house and others doing decking right across the back of the house. Most of them smoked.
Being summer I had the windows open when the decking was done and at night after they left I realised I could get a slight whiff of cigarettes. I put candles on the windows sills and they removed the smell. It certainly didnt linger for days.

I believe it’s a mixture of stale smoke vs his smell from his house. I’m guessing the vinyl lying around has caught on some smell I can see no other way?

I'm thinking it's more likely to be the adhesive or something in the manufacture maybe.
If he was smoking outside and not handling the plates and such it seems unlikely to be that.
Still, as you're lucky enough to have someone replace so quickly that will be your answer. Could you get a wiff of the adhesive and wrap before they are down?

I understand that this is a really big problem for you but I would suggest giving it a bit of time to resolve itself. I've had similar issues in the past, after building work, but much more minor in nature. I've found that given time, they fade. I'd suggest that you give it a week or two before you think of making a change.

I’ve had this happen to be albeit when I was a kid - guy in the 90’s came round to install a new PC (good old Win95) and he smelled so much of ciggies that the smell in our dining room lingered for a week… he didn’t even smoke on our property! It does go away though

Yes the new wrap has helped but the smell is in the tumble dryer too random but the heat from the wrap went in. Same thing happened when a local care home went on fire the smell was on my clothes from washing line for weeks. I’m hoping some tumble dryer sheets and a few washes will rid the smell as it fills the room again.
