Online Sales using discount codes

  • The voucher codes were given by Samsung at the checkout process. I wasn't aware of the additional £750 until the code popped up just before the final pay step. The codes all worked together, so I reasonably assumed they were all correct.
I have even just received a VAT Receipt which includes the serial number of the laptop. DPD have confirmed that the laptop was received back at the Samsung UK Warehouse at 11:26 this morning.  Spoken to Samsung again and they are going to request re-delivery. But I'm not very confident about this.  It was a very good discount and if they don't want to sell the laptop at that price, why not just say it was an error and refund me? Honestly is always the best policy, I'd understand if that was the case.  But no mention of any error and excessive discount on the laptop.

If it was a mistake and they don't want to sell it at that price, then that's probably would they *would* do - there are other examples of this happening in the past and "It was a glitch in our system, it wasn't supposed to offer you the additional £750 discount, sorry" wouldn't be a totally unreasonable position for them to take.

However, given that all indications are this was some delivery issue then I think your chances are good based on current information.
  • Here is the latest update regarding my post.
I have received two emails this morning from Samsung UK Shop. The first email acknowledging they have received the Laptop back at the warehouse on 17/12/2024. They will inspect the Laptop and re-list it on their system. Once this is completed, a re-delivery/replacement will be processed and to allow 7-10 working days for this.
The second email confirms an exchange request for the same laptop. This looks like an automated email as it gives instructions on how to return the laptop (which I never received).
I have just logged into my Samsung account and checked my orders. A new order has been created for the same Laptop and is at stage 3 (Order Confirmed). So there are just 3 more stages left (Preparing Dispatch, On the Way and Delivered).
Hopefully the "replacement" Laptop will be dispatched today? But I'm still not 100% confident this will happen, but I'll keep my fingers crossed!
    I'll keep you updated.

It does sound now as though something just went wrong with the "in transit" process and the OP will receive the laptop soon, even if they miss Christmas delivery (if that was important).

It is, of course, possible that the laptop package suffered significant impact or water damage in transit and the system worked well to return the "faulty" laptop and go into a replacement process without the OP having the hassle of needing to initiate a return.
