Wrap the router in kitchen foil. Sorted.1

Best not to turn it off as things like updates tend to run in the night. But if you're not familiar with router admin settings then just get a smart plug instead to have it switch the router on and off.0

Ensure your phone/laptop etc have a static MAC and setup the appropriate list of MACs so only your devices can connect and no one can see your wifi to try and "hack it".
Some routers have a "guest wifi" option, if you do have friends/family over fairly regularly you could turn this on/off for when they are there again with SSID broadcasting off.oldernonethewiser said:I turned my Wifi off when I set up a MESH network
I turned the Wifi off on my router supplied by my ISP.

Mobile broadband is so cheap these days then it seems pointless.
You're not Prince Andrew by any chance?1 -

Bt Smart Hubs can be an exception when using their own mesh kit, the hub is also a mesh device.
Wouldn't achieve what the OP wants and should be more explicit its only the router you are turning off wifi on not just a generic comment which would suggest you are turning wifi off both router and mesh nodes0 -
Wow, interesting replies? I dont want to get into the reasons but there are some hateful gullible stupid scum out there!
Now that said, the comments are interesting but skirt round my question. I looking for a cheaper internet provider than vodaphone with that i would like a switch on the router for easy... wifi dis/re connect, or provider who will allow me to use my own box.
Ok, now regarding my education here? Mesh is something i came across with Andy Kirby on YouTube. What i dont understand is what relevance regarding normal internet providers?
The SSID i did change and my pass key, but for some reason it did not work? Though i did not know you could hide the name.0 -
According to Vodaphone you can turn off the wifi on your router so if thats your only requirement then no need to switch. Like most modern systems, things are done through interfaces not physical switches. If you want a physical switch then you already seem to have identified an item that meets your need and so work case you set it up, connect it to your Vodaphone router and then go into the vodaphone routers control panel and turn off its wifi.
Mesh is simply an alternative wifi technology that allows you to have multiple nodes around your property with seemless handover from one to another node as you walk around the property. It's irrelevant to your perceived issue.
You can turn off broadcasting the SSID which means it won't show up in in the list of available networks meaning your "hackers" would need to guess both your chosen SSID and password

The SSID i did change and my pass key, but for some reason it did not work? Though i did not know you could hide the name.Do you know why those changes didn't take?Worth doing them again, change both and hide the SSID then that should reduce the chance of hackers.
