Universal credit- untidy tenancy advice

I’m looking for some advice and I’m hoping somebody has a bit more of an idea on it than myself!

basically I work part time and claim u/c as I’ve not long had my son. So, me and my partner split up in May and I notified both my housing association and universal credit on the date he moved out (end of may, we split up end of April).

I changed my circumstances on my account and spoke to my housing officers who said they would update tenancy etc.

i noticed only last month when I was checking my statement (sat wondering how I’d made it through the month as the last few months of the year are always hard with Christmas) i noticed I have been only getting half the rent. I put a note on my journal straight away and received a call to say this is something classed as an untidy tenancy but they confirmed with my housing association that I did notify them of my partner moving out. In glad I did this both telephone and email so I forwarded the proof to Uc.

This has been sent to the decision maker in regards to 6! Months of incorrect rent payments, it got sent 3 weeks and 4 days ago. I’m curious, how long does something like this take ?

between them and now I had a payment from universal credit which included full rent so my account is normal but I was told I may be due an underpayment but that the decision maker would look first… how long would it be with a decision maker ? Being a single mom over the Christmas holidays this would really help

please, no judgement as I’m new to this!
thank you

Those decisions on backdating additional entitlement can take about a month, so you should hear soon.  You can ask via your journal to see if this can be escalated as it has been nearly been a month without decision.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
  • Thank you @huckster I have been putting notes on my journal but no response as of yet. I called today they said they would chase it. Fingers crossed!
