PAC Code Timing
Hello all,
I have a question about switching to a new mobile provider. I’m coming to the end of my first contract as an adult in my own name, so I have no idea how the process works.
My contracts minimum term ends on the 22nd January - and I’m wondering when is the best time to get and use my PAC code to switch to a new provider.
Do I get the code and use it just before or just after my minimum term ends?
Money is pretty tight at the moment, so ideally I don’t want to end up getting charged for an extra month on a £40 contract.
Thanks all!

You can get your PAC code whenever you want, its valid for 30 days.If it expires, request a new one which will be valid for 30 days.You can use it whenever you like.This page might be of interst:

If you use it before the end of the minimum term you’ll be billed to the end of the minimum term.Depending on when you use it after the end of the minimum term you’ll either get a bill crediting any usage you’ve already paid for after the PAC code was used, or (if the bill was already generated) one more bill and then a final bill crediting the overpayment.1

If you get the PAC code a week or two before the end of the contract, you can then submit the code to your new service's provider just before the end of your contract term. I've used a PAC code lots of times over the years and these days it's very speedy, you submit it early in the day on a weekday and the number will transfer next day, often by 9am in my experience.
Best submit the code on a weekday early in the week ie Monday or Tuesday in case there are any issues and you need to contact someone to query it.1 -
I'm on a 30 day rolling contract, how do I terminate it and when should I use a Pac code to move. I'm with ID mobile.
I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.0 -
Giving the PAC to the new provider will terminate your contract with the old provider. The money saving way would be to do it a few days before the end of your 30 day period but don't do it close to the weekend.
