Wedding competion

Hi, I entered a competition on Facebook to win your wedding venue, and i got a phone call the other day to say I'd won! I can meet up with them at the place where it will be, though I've not agreed to it yet, because I'm just worried it's not real or there's a catch. It's with Bespoke weddings and events, has anyone heard anything about them or even won and gone through with it? Thanks

  • Website looks nice, I would presume they intent to make their money on up selling?
In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces
  • The venue might be a legitimate operation, but is the entity running the competition?
  • Have you actually won it? Looking at the terms and conditions I'd suggest you are still in round 1 of the promotion, and if you go ahead with the meeting you'll need to pay a non-refundable sum (probably £600) to proceed to round 2. Read the T&Cs very carefully before deciding whether to go ahead.
  • You can search for them on Companies House https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/search

I would go and meet them, but take at least one other person with you just in case.  Someone who is not afriad to tell them to do one if anything sounds suspicious.  If anything sounds dody i.e. them taking any sort of financial/card details then I would report them

Sounds like the "model photo shoot" etc everyone that enters wins and the cost for everything else is inflated so their net position is no different -v- had you paid for the venue hire but then lower cost other items.

    We recently bought a puppy
The breeder told us that " there is something special about the one you chose"
I was of the opinion that the breeder  said that to everyone who obtained a pup from them
I imagine your "Win" is the same

You need to read the terms and conditions to see exactly what you are committing to.

    From what I can see

You have to agree to buy certain items to progress to the next round of the competition.

Only at the end of round three do they deduct the prize money from the cost of the wedding you have booked.

If you don’t win you will be lumbered with the bill for your booking.
  • Just read the T&C's of each round. I'd run a mile.

They'd be right though, there's something special about *every* puppy.
  • Did you meet them in the end? I have “won” the same competition and also wondering if it’s a scam?
