The Christmas bonus was introduced by Ted Heath in 1972. It was 10 pounds then, and it's 10 pounds now. It was supposed to cover the cost of a full Christmas dinner for a family. Barely covers the bus to the supermarket these days.
You just need to be a bit more creative.....

Still not had mine either. Last year I didn't get it until the 20th, but I was a new entrant to the system then, having only reached pension age on Dec 5th so I could understand why it was paid later than most others. Different this year. My 95 year old mother got hers on Dec 2nd. Could they be paying in descending order of age, oldest first?
Knowing how this government are treating OAP's I'd think they'd pay younger first, in the hope the older ones pop their clogs before spending it, so they can reclaim it. ;-)

Piece of luck, my works have paid a Christmas bonus, should take care of non WFA appearance this year, Government benefit as well, since they get an extra £67 in tax from me!

Mr S's Christmas bonus was paid on 2 Dec, mine arrived today.  Doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason behind the payment schedule.

Well if there are comments on here about it, you can bet the phones will be ringing at the DWP which will divert staff from other work. Far better to get the payment out in good time and avoid that.

They could be dealing with 'where's my winter fuel allowance?' queries from those who are no longer eligible.  Yes, we've all received letters - but, assuming they are all like ours, the letters didn't specifically say that we wouldn't receive the allowance, just that we would only get it if we were in receipt of one of the following benefits.....  Not everyone will have read the letter properly or - dare I say it - taken heed of the widely promulgated details in the media
