Just an update on costs for 2026 if it is of help to anyone.

I have just had some Mitsubishi Heavy Insdutries A2A (aircon units) fitted from their premium domestic range (basically this spec Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Air Conditioning SCM60ZS-S Premium Plus 3 x SRK20ZS-WF/B/T Wall 2Kw £3,188.36 £2,656.97 (ex. VAT)), not to be confused with their basic range. These are specifically designed for living and bedrooms and are very quiet. I was quoted £3840 (no VAT). I had also been quoted £2790 for the SCM40ZS plus 2 x SRK20ZS. These prices include 7year warranty as installed by a MHI Diamond installer.

I had 2 MHI split units installed in 2019 and have been very happy with them. The 2 new units were for upstairs and were additions. The price for the 3 way split unit was obtained as, having 2 units, I would have needed planning permission and the 3 way split replaced one of the existing units thus avoiding PP issues.

Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kWwest facing panels , 3.6 kWeast facing), Solis inverters installed 2018, 5kW SSE facing system (shaded in afternoon) added in 2025 with Tesla PW3 battery, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted A2A Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner.

I've had 3 full years with an A2W ASHP and now have gas central heating. I've just stayed a week in Canada, where there are colder winters and warmer summers than the UK. The house I was in had oil CH/dhw with an A2A heater/AC. This seems to work really well for the householder. I think when my gas boiler needs replacing I might go for something similar rather than full A2W. A bit like my (PHEV) car in some ways.
