    UPDATE to my previous ........

Uswitch now show 40GB for £8.

Certainly no longer 120GB for £7.
That, for you, was a bargin  an' no mistakin'  !
You're right I misremembered, it was direct with mobiles.co.uk. Partner has an O2 PAYM via USwitch 40GB £7.

And it's now £6 for 120GB/mth (albeit you have to claim some cashback every couple of months, takes a couple of minutes)

  • That's bordering on the spectacular if you need a sizeable allocation.

  • Hi All,

I'm currently with 1p mobile, but as they keep changing their ToS, I've been looking elsewhere.
When I first started, I only needed to top up once every 4 months, so it would cost me £30 a year, then it was changed to once every 3, now once every 2 months.

Talk Home are offering the same product as the original 1p mobile deal, so I'll probably go with that, but it does have a whiff of the same company setting up the same deal only to change it in a few months time..

Are 1p mobile & Talk Home essentially the same company, as they both use the same network?

    Thanks.

My brief research tells me they are not the same company. Yes they both use EE but whether you'd get the same user experience as 1p I wouildn't lkie to say.  Talkhome are owned by Nowtel. That in itself would stop me, personally, from going there. But I imagine you've looked yourself at reviews to see whether they might be any better for you than 1p. and who owns them  etc
There's no WI FI calling or 4G calling either ... if that's important to you. But, they might be great in practice.
Wouldn't you be better staying with 1p and changing to an annual plan? They don't cost a fortune and you would know who it was you were dealing with.

Has your RWG experience been as patchy as others?  Some feedback appears dire. Don't think I'd risk it myself.
I confess 1p would get more serious consideration to replace my EE monthly £10.25 contract (which will go up in April, of course). It would be one of their annual plans given that you can ring someone in the UK and you, apparently, get the full EE coverage.
But people do seem happy with their Talkmobile experience. Owned by Vodafone and been going for ages and allows you to speak to a human. A fiver a month for 5GB (MSE deal) would suit me.
Is there a drawback to the deals via MSE and Uswitch etc? Or the £25 cashback through the cashback site(s)?
I'll look to see what Uswitch Vodafone deals are available. I certainly don't need 120GB though.

My broadband is, of course, another topic.
I've been with Idnet for many years but am increasing aware that I ought to go FTTP and Andrews and Arnold have a distinct appeal. But, like I say, thats a matter for another thread.

You can look at some of my older posts from about 6-8 months ago to see how appalling I found rwg. When I found out they just use nowmbolile anyway I switched to nowmobile direct who are far better for dashboard control and information and getting in touch with support. I have been having issues with them now though for around a week as they forbid logging in on the same number/connection I use for the simcard! It makes an error 'un-behavioral pattern detected'. I am able to get through to support but they have been useless at resolving the issue. They just keep telling me to wait another day and on and on and that they have escalated the case/put it to primary importance yet not fixed it.

It was just because I used to use my mum's land connection to login and when I was away and tried to login it must have looked different. Stupid though that the system is unable to accommodate a simple change of ip address.

Overall they are far better than rwg who were horrendous with support issues. Just ignored them 9 times out of 10.

Oh and to update, I have gone with smarty. Took the 50gb for £8 offer. I am thinking I might end up quite quickly upgrading to the unlimited for £15 as I realized that being throttled on internet is not something I really want to scrimp on. I will see how long 50gb lasts but I predict not long if I want to watch videos.

    Thank you, Gervis.

(I wonder if Barney will return to the topic?)

click on show all deals and reset filters to choose unlimited.

Smarty U/L is on offer at £15 there as a rolling monthly.

It all depends on which networks work where you live and travel to...  Smarty and IDMobile use the 3 network...

If you need O2 or Vodafone then different MVNOs will be needed.

I am on the £8 for 50gb offer however due to extremely limited electric lately I have not been able to use the internet with the regularity I normally would to ascertain if 50gb per month would be enough.

I am temped by the unlimited for £15 offer and feel the sense of urgency to order it due to the offer expiring on the 14th of jan. I do not want to do it out of haste though, as an ardent mse, as it is double the price of the plan I have currently.

I wonder, when that one expires, will another come right up for a comparable monthly fee? I do want to use smarty though, or another one which allows you to view your balance online. I noticed id offer unlimited for the same price but did not seem to give access to your balance on the dashboard.

Also ee is working well for me. Even better than 3 was before.

1p Mobile have 30 day rolling packages. You can change the data amount every month if needed. They use the EE network and have a dashboard showing calls, texts and data used.

I prefer the flexible “no contract” nature of both GiffGaff and 1p on their 30 day packages.

I have used 3 and O2 (GiffGaff) in the past. 3 were unreliable and had no battery backup on the local site… GG and 1p have been good.

Locally O2 have slightly better coverage than EE, but no 5G around my home on O2.

Oh that is what I am on with smarty as well, rolling monthly. No obligation to continue but the offer only stays valid if you auto re-new. My question is whether it is likely they will have a new offer for unlimited soon after the current one expires as I am caught between FOMO of that one and it being more than I need thus paying too much for unneeded bandwidth.

I have a bit over a week now to see so should give me a better idea from now til then.
