I live and work in a 2 bed appartment, we have a few computers and a large printer, we also have a 4 month old baby, our last bill just before christmas was £170 for the qtr but our heating was broken for 2 weeks of that so we had an electric heater on the go mostof the time.
I found some of the efergy monitors on ebay but your only saving a few quid so might just get on from the suppliers just incase it goes faulty.0 -
Well then it looks as though our bills are reasonably normal.
I could save a bit more if I reduced my usage of the tumble dryer but other than that I can't see how we could reduce it further. We would have to change a lot of our light fittings since the majority don't take low energy bulbs and we tend not to leave anything on standby.
Oh hold on, just had a thought - we might save a bit more if DH and I didn't have a PC each. We seem to be on the net every day

I live in a 2-bedroom flat with hubby and son and have gas heating (but electric cooker) but out leccy bill is a fair bit more. We use the tumble drier a lot but have recently got a new more effciient one, and we have 2 PCs on a lot of the time, but apart from that I didn't think we were too bad

I am in a tiny 1 bedroom flat, all electric. 2 storage heaters, electric fire (3 bars). No washing machine or dishwasher. Immersion heater. Flat is at top of house and usually very warm and I'm a "hot" person. In winter have storage heater is living room on as it provides a lot of heat and means I only need 1 bar of the fire at night! Storage heater in bedroom only on at night. Immersion heater used once a week - on for 5 hours at night - just to get enough hot water to bath/wash (no shower in flat). Yet NPower decided my usage is £40 a month. Worse they have now sent me another bill, saying that my usage from mid October to mid December is ...wait for it...£172!!! That's £86 a month! They say it is based on accurate meter readings - but I haven't given them a reading for this period! (Had major probs with them in 2006 when they suddenly decided I was using £97 a month....took Energywatch to sort that one out). Comments, anyone?0
