Debt collectors now charging me for failing to collect debt

What you really want is for them to actually collect the money. Perhaps you can reach a compromise where they agree to try again a couple of times and you agree to pay the invoice? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1

That's a good idea.0

I am in a very similar position except my defendant has been deemed to have no funds to pay as against as LTD Company, I've told them to allow the company to go into being struck off phase but they want to close the file now.0

I am in the same situation, I have a CCJ in place and paid for it to be enforced through DCBL (the Cant Pay Tv Show). The did tell me there would be a fee of £75 if they couldnt recover the debt, but said this is highly unlikely
It would seem with all the good information I gave them using TraceIQ (the industry standard) and other address details and contact info, they chose to ignore all of this and took so long in doing so the debtor had moved on.
The original address the CCJ was based at she had moved on from which I told them but they still visited to find out that this was true and that she left with unpaid rent also! The next address is the boyfriends address and apparently they turned up only to be told she had left a month prior having split up! Although Facebook would say otherwise!
They now give me 7 days to to perform a new trace for a later address or they can do this for a fee and if I dont get it back within 7 days they close the case and bill me £75
This seems a little bit of a racket really as essentially all im paying for is for them to turn at an address in the hope they might be there! Either way I gave clear instruction on the most likley address to try first but they ignored this.
Their fees come form the addtional cost to the debtor on top of my payment and that is their risk but it would seem its an easy £75 for little effort to me.
I was talked out of getting the debt taken from wages as apparently this can take a long time, which is the case but for me this is more principal.
I know the debtors mothers address and there would like be more action if they were to visit this address as she is over 70 and would naturally contact her daughter, so by being polite and not agressive there would likely be more chance of recovery but they say they would only got to 2 addresses and only once with financial ties, which the TraceIQ report did show even if old.
I think the idea of small claims is good but it seems yet again the victims get stiffed more than anyone else!
Im wondering if just employing debt collectors (non high court) would be the better option as whilst they might have less actual power to remove goods, their presence and persistence infront of neighbors is more likely more effective for smaller debts where the debtor is in a position to pay but is just dodging it.
I would hope they might be able to arrive at a work place to speak with the debtor where as the high court officers have less ability to do so!
All in all DCBL have been a waste of time and as such even more time has passed at my expense
In short DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE DCBL LTD unless your are 100% sure the debtor is at the address and dont expect much in return, it probably is only any good for unpaid rent where the tenant is still in the property.
