UKPCL / DCBL Claim

Options
I received a parking notice on a local retail park for partly parking on the chevrons in a parent and child space in order to gain access to the car seat in the rear of my car. The chevrons were only on one side of the parking space (unlike the parent and child space next to it which had them on both sides of the vehicle). So I was forced to park further over to gain access.

I appealed to the parking company on these grounds, and also to popla. Both refused the appeal.

UKPCL then sent me a letter demanding £100 payment. I could not afford to pay this so on the advice given by CAB I emailed their company within the 30 days period to notify them of this.

I have now received a letter from DCBL (bailiffs) claiming I need to pay them £170.

Please advise.

Many thanks

I would expect that its a debt collector letter from DCB LTD giving you 14 days notice

Read post 4 in the newbies sticky thread in announcements by coupon mad

    Ignore DCBL, they are powerless

Yes it’s not the legal arm.

So after reading all the relevant stickies here, I guess the protocol is to wait until they send a legal letter or MCOL and follow the relevant guidance in the Newbies section?

    Many thanks

Correct, but never bin plan A, plan A is the best option here, in ANY dispute

Ensure that the parking company have the correct address for the service of papers too, and your V5c and driving licence are also up to date
  • Is it worth complaining to some of the businesses on the retail park or do I need to contact the actual landowners? Thanks :)

Whilst you may get lucky, the sympathy card, it is the retail park management company that you should be complaining to, they hired the parking company on behalf of the landowner, and easier to find, contact and deal with

The landowner is probably hands off, so last resort

Where exactly did this alleged parking event take place? Which retail park?

This sign at the entrance to that retail park should be useful...

Savills are known to be quite helpful.
  • Will check out the stickies for complaint templates, thank you very much 🙏🏼💚
