CURRYS insurance

I bought a TV and 13 years later I received a letter about the insurance cover (I had no idea) I had taken out at purchase. £10 a month.
I wrote back and requested proof of the communications they had sent and to what address, telling me about this cover. I asked for proof of payments and any changes. I asked why they thought I needed to pay over £1500 cover for a TV that cost less than that 13 years earlier.
They wrote back stating they had cancelled the cover at my request (I did NOT request cancellation).
They offered to pay the sum back in full.
IS THIS a get-out? Should they be approached about supplying insurance unnecessarily and offer additional compensation?

Why?
You obviously took out the insurance at the time.
Accept the win and move on.1 -

Get into the habit of checking far more often to pick up on stuff like this that is agreed to at time of purchase.
Usually would go out to your email address, but would have been signed for when purchasing TV.
They do not have to refund anything. They could have kept on debiting each month until you called them to cancel..
Not had much luck with currys have you?

You must have authorised the payment at the time. Take the refund.

A full refund is a great result, accept it before they change their minds.3

It's an optional extra at point of sale, its normally an indefinite contract and continues until either you instruct them to cancel it or, for some devices, it hits a certain age. Unless they want to increase the price or such then they won't get in contact you after the first signup.
Your getting a full refund, what more do you want?
Hopefully a good lesson in checking your statements!1 -
