Bigger plan vs adjusting to less usage

I was only buying a gig or two here and there when I had my mum's fibre connection to use and this was the backup connection for when away from the main one.

When the mobile data became my main one I planned to live on as little bandwidth and do without.

I am still playing with that idea but most of my internet usage is research and often nowadays instructional content is via videos so it is not simply decadent stuff that is in video form!

I got 4gb the other day, slowly increasing from 1 or 2 and notice that is going fast and that is just from web browsing. So much extra wasted bandwidth in HD images and spam adverts loading. I may look into blocking that stuff.

Currently on nowmobile pay as you go. I see that those topups are more expensive than a monthly rolling one but even those seem more expensive than for example smarty unlimited for £20 per month. I used to pay that for hyperoptic unlimited so all the same. Not really bothered about differences in speed as long as I can watch videos without much interruption.

For nowmobile you only get 100gb for £20 on the monthly plan.

Depends how much I will use in a month. If I am way under it won't matter.

I am going to keep gradually increasing the plans until I do not go over for a month, which has yet to be achieved while also not finding it too much of a deprivation.

I actually am also just limiting what videos I watch to download only when I really want to watch something and when I do pick the lowest bitrate as the information is the same either way and I did just fine back in the olden days with lower quality videos.

It is good I think to try and see how far I can adjust to this rather than just go with a big plan right away and end up just watching junk like I used to.

I will try and get in the habit of reading again if I want any extra curricular material to digest.

Oh and I don't want to commit to 12 month+ contracts at this time. I would do 1 month rolling only.
