Shower head - dripping water

  • The back of where the shower is joined into the back of next door. And directly below my bathroom is the spare bathroom so I I imagine I couldn’t even get to the pipewoek
    And directly above the shower?

    Nothingness
  • I was in a similar situation not long ago, despite so much research and image search, I couldn't find an exact make and have no idea of removing the cartridge.
It just seemed easiest to replace the shower mixer (in your case, you would need a two way mixer) and it was a good shout in the end because it was a nightmare taking apart the mixer to access the mixer - there was so much limescale inside.
And often little extra cost for the whole bar over just the cartridge, too.
My only hesitation is that this one has a diverter fitted on it, so the replacement would need to fit this exactly - often just a push-fit, I understand, but possibly screwed-on with others. So, unless you can track down the exact same bar, a fix might be better.
Once the bar is removed, the options increase.

My curiosity got to me and still learning my way around things so I am always happy to gain extra knowledge!

So to educate me, when you say diverter, is it this part above the mixer?

Does this mean that this mixer has just a single outlet and any single top outlet standard mixer would work, right? Or would the presence of a separate diverter mean a more robust/complex mixer?

Yes, that's what I mean by the diverter. And, as you say, it isn't part of the main mixer bar, but is fitted on the outlet, so - in theory - the 'bar' part is pretty standard.
What I don't know, tho', is how the diverter attaches to the bar - is it push-on or screwed? If there wasn't a diverter fitted, then I assume the hose would fit on there, so that implies 'screwed'. But, I don't know.
In operation, and internals, the mixer bar would be the same - nothing special required for 'diverting', other than the stick-on diverter itself :-)

Ah thank you for a detailed post, it all makes sense now! You can consider me educated today! :)
