Shower head - dripping water

Yes, turning that wee lever to handset, and laying the handset down should sort the noise, but obviously the main issue will remain - water will be seeping out.
To sort this properly will require the on/off/flow cartridge to be replaced. That is in the opposite end to the temperature adjuster.
It's perfectly DIYable, but perhaps not for an absolute beginner. You may find a complete replacement mixer - the main horizontal chrome part - will cost little more than the cartridge.
Have a really close look over that main body part, and see if there's a name lasered onto it - it might not be obvious at first glance. Certainly higher-end makes will have their name.1 -

Thanks so much for your time and help so far
For the life of me, I cannot find a make or model of this. I’ll have a look if I can somehow find similar models online and take it from there to replace the cartridge1 -
Looks like: https://www.plumbworld.co.uk/architeckt-thermostatic-mixer-shower-round-bar-valve-with-square-drench-adjustable-heads-18174-1262332 but, tbh, there are a lot of showers that use very similar - even identical - internals.Often only high-end stuff, Grohe etc, will have maker-specific parts. Two things I'd suggest; the first is to download the installation instructions for such a shower mixer, and have a read. That will show you how little is involved in removing that whole bar from the rest of the shower - it's essentially the two large chrome nuts behind it. Once off, it's much easier to remove the worn cartridge and find a replacement. Or, even buy a complete new 'bar'. And the other thing to do is to see if your shower H&C water supplies have isolating valves on them. What's on the other side of that wall, for example? If you do have valves fitted, then that makes the job a lot easier, and gives you time to carry out a repair.

I was in a similar situation not long ago, despite so much research and image search, I couldn't find an exact make and have no idea of removing the cartridge.
It just seemed easiest to replace the shower mixer (in your case, you would need a two way mixer) and it was a good shout in the end because it was a nightmare taking apart the mixer to access the mixer - there was so much limescale inside.2 -

So, unless you can track down the exact same bar, a fix might be better.Once the bar is removed, the options increase.

Have you looked in the room next to the shower for the supply pipes? Or, if you are in a bungalow, check the loft above it.0 -
Just a thought, are you in an apartment? If so, it might be worth asking your freeholder or even your neighbours if they know.0
