How to take on Currys?

I placed two orders with Currys on Black Friday using Currys gift cards which were acquired via a Blue Light Card voucher scheme (hence no s.75 protection). I received order confirmation emails and order numbers.

The following morning they were both cancelled stating that I’d failed to make payment on the link they sent me. This obviously was an error as I paid at checkout. I spoke with the overseas based customer services who couldn’t find my order numbers and couldn’t say how I’d be refunded. I asked for manger call backs but they have not materialised.

I’ve emailed the CEO office and received automated replies from the exec care team but nothing further. I even went into the store knowing they’d state it wasn’t within their jurisdiction to assist but wanted to demonstrate that I’d explored every avenue.

As a last roll of the dice I re-contacted customer service and the call handler took the gift card numbers and said that he could get them refunded within 5 hours. Needless to say it hasn’t happened.

I know there was a similar problem in 2020 which MSE reported on.

It seems that there is nothing else I can do to rectify this situation - would appreciate constructive suggestions please.

n.b. I do still want the items ordered but they are no longer being sold at Black Friday prices so even when refunded I’m at a loss.

Keep trying for the refund, and then sue them after three promised refunds haven't happened.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.
  • I am also having issues with Currys and its non-existent customer service - currently I am doing chargeback as paid for an item not received - they claim it was collected when it wasn't. I have done a week of constant phoning and e-mailing and nobody gets back to you. Branch also would not help. Police couldn't help though said to try Citizens advice. Trading standards also couldn't help and signposted to Citizens advice.

Maybe pre action letter and small claims court - that's where I will be headed for my £500 they took if chargeback fails. Good luck. I have also put on social media but not achieved anything and spammers target you claiming to be from Currys so be careful in revealing details, I was.
