change of address

Hi all,

just a quick question. i got two PCN's at the start of 2022. i took the advice off this board backt then and ignored all the begging letters, i got about 10 in total but by the back end of 2022 they stopped and i just put it to the back of my mind.

i moved house 3 months ago, and changed my address over fully with DVLA straight away. this week my old neighbour, who has been taking our mail for us that still goes to the old house gave me another letter that is now from a different debt company called Trace. I fully intend to ignore as per, but i am a bit concerned that should it spiral now it has started up again to the courts it won't get to my new address.

i'm looking to buy a house next year and the last thing i need is a CCJ. would the courts be forced to find my address through DVLA or will they chase me off info given by the parking rogues?

    Hello and welcome.

You must make sure that the parking company - which parking company are we talking about here? - always has your current address.

It is not unheard of for a parking company to write to an old address, receive no reply and then raise a court claim at that old address knowing full well the victim will have no opportunity to defend themself and a Default Judgment suddenly appears. Miraculously, the parking company then finds the new address and starts looking for money.

When updating the DVLA, did you do both your Driving Licence and your vehicle's Registration Document(V5c)?
  • thanks for the response Keith. i'm at work at the minute so don't have the letter to hand, but i think its CCP or something like that and the letter from this trace debt collectors states they are doing in on their behalf.

i did change both V5 and driving licence over within a week of moving. would you advise i contact the source company chasing the money of my new address or just to leave it?

You email the DPO at the parking company and inform them of the correct address for the service of papers, and that they must ERASE the old address

    Nothing else

Why do you do this. ?  To avoid this s... Show below

You need to send a data rectification notice to the DPO of the PPC and advise them of your new address for service, require them to inform all and any of their agents and subcontractors of same and ERASE your old data.
  • Many thanks all for the help. I will email them later and request they change it

No. There is a specific word to use.

Why not just copy/adapt the suggested LBC response first few paragraphs that cover this?  In the second post of the NEWBIES thread.

Many thanks. one last question - once i send this, should i expect a confirmation it has been recieved and acted on, or just save sent email and that will be enough to cover me should they continue to send to my old address?

You should expect confirmation from them, but you should keep confirmation of having instructed them on your address change.
