Rejected twice for starling easy saver

Just to let everyone know, for a basic savings a/c, the Marcus account isn't bad. Also, Natwest have digital savers that pay around 6%. I may try and get that as I still have my NW current account1

Starling Bank has voluntarily agreed not to open new accounts for high or higher risk customers while it improves its anti-money laundering (AML) controls1

Opened the Easy Saver account over the weekend. Took about 2 minutes to be approved.
It could also be that they only have a certain amount of funding to go into this at this stage and are looking for certain types of customers to be approving first. If that is the case, they should be more open about it being restricted for now.1 -

I have a Marcus account, they aren't too bad but transfers can be extremely slow. I made one at 3:00 on Saturday afternoon and it didn't reach my current account until 10:00 on Sunday morning.

So I have done further research into this matter, interestingly on one forum a guy with an excellent credit rating and a large lump in his Starling account was declined, his friend a debt laden student with a poor credit score was accepted. It seems Starling are trying to recoup their £29 million pound fine!
Stopping the interest on current accounts and giving the benefit to “small” savers is going to help revenue.I have had the pleasure of emptying my account today. It’s so easy to switch now and with financial benefits.I have now a Nationwide account up and running, it was a seamless switch.I have also given a damming review on Trustpilot.1 -
I've been with Starling for years with no issues, but have been refused an Easy Saver account too. No explanations, and although I have lodged a complaint (as others have done), I don't expect a satisfactory response from them. I'm going to look at Monzo - especially as they do a credit card too. Hopefully they will be in the market for new customers because it seems Starling is not interested.0

I know no one likes rejection, but it really is down to the institution if they want to provide services to an individual. I've always heard HSBC is quite picky for example.0

Yeah, having a huff is a bit odd tbh. The rate isn’t even that great to worry about anyway.1

I too got the rejection yesterday (have a perfect credit file). For those that have been accepted were you informed of decision straight away or did you have to wait? My rejection came the day after I applied so just curious if the accepted are told instantly.0
