You're both reading what the old card offers, and which will be ending in February. The description it gives for what happens after February is exactly the same as the standard Amex Rewards card.

So does the standard Amex Rewards card offer a simple 1 point per £ (i.e. 0.5%), with no uplift for "selected supermarkets"?

    No, it doesn't - @callum9999 is mistaken.

Apologies - I think calum9999 might be correct, this is some obscure old card offer. I literally can't find a mention of it on the Amex website - but I can find some old posts on this forum referencing a 3pts per £ at supermarkets card (example).

So to answer the OP with this card they are actually dropping the 5k minimum payout, as well as the 3x earning rate at supermarkets.
