Morning everyone
Feeling sad this morning after an early message from DD saying little one has bad diarrhoea and is retching - she'll miss the Christmas Fayre at school this afternoon, as well as Christmas craft morning tomorrow and their dress rehearsal. DD says she is so upset ...that's before she misses the school trip to the pantomime and Christmas lunch next week for hospital appointments. We're just hoping she doesn't get kept in next Thursday because she'd miss being in the Christmas play. Everything always seems to go wrong for her.
So I'm sat here in my Christmas jumper - I'm helping at the fayre this afternoon tafter work then we're joining with school staff for pizza, painting and prosecco tonight at a place local to us. Then tomorrow we're having Christmas crafts in nursery so I'll be out earlier than usual.
DD was meant to be painting my bedroom and bathroom today and tomorrow, so that's now postponed till Saturday and I'll go down to her house to look after little one.
I'm expecting my Tesco delivery soon and then might pop down to mam and dads for a cuppa if I have time, as I'll not get down tomorrow.
Oh and there it is! Better get my bags out - hope everyone has a good day x12 -
Morning all, well we're on a weather warning but all is well at the moment, no rain and little wind, oh-er-missus !
Yesterday our Suzy tank had her annual MOT and passed, phew, she's getting to be an old lady now so we get to keep her for another 12 months.
All the xmas stuff was found yesterday so our task today is to put up the tree and a few decs. I cut back last year and I think it will be less stuff again this year, just nice stuff. I've waited long enough to have a nice display and not the full on Santa's Grotto effect 🎅🤣 but it's going to be a long day as it takes us ages.
Gers glad the meeting went well.
Crisca I saw Peter Kay in Cardiff many years ago and I didn't stop laughing from start to finish. I hope you enjoy it.
taff I hope your kitchen can be paid for today.
dp1 bless your little one, I hope she can bounce back asap so she doesn't miss all the xmas events and she gets to say her lines.
Sorry I've forgotten what everyone else said, I'm so sorry to be such an air head.
Right first I must empty the dw then make a start on the xmas decorations.
Take care all, enjoy your day

The weather here today is mild and dry at the moment but heavy rain is forecast for this afternoon, with strong winds and yet more rain over the weekend. And there was a mention of snow.
Tomorrow looks to be the best day if I need to go anywhere. This morning started somewhat chaotically with various phone calls, parcel deliveries (for my neighbour, not me) and post to deal with - not my ideal start to the day, I like to come round gently!
Yesterday was very productive as DS visited unexpectedly - a welcome surprise - and acted as my chauffeur for the day. First stop was to pick up DH's ashes, he is now residing in the bedroom. When my turn comes, my ashes will be mixed with his and scattered at a place of DS's choosing. Then on to the CS which means I can evict the dust bunnies that have accumulated under the stairs where the bags/boxes were. Homebase next where I got the lampshade I was wanting (that lamp is going in my bedroom) plus a new table lamp for the living room and a replacement shower curtain. It was all too obvious they're in administration and I feel so sorry for the staff - what an awful predicament for them just before Xmas. Finally on to Argos to collect the mini Xmas tree followed by a spot of (late) lunch when we got back home.
I don't have any specific plans for today; I know there are lots of jobs waiting to be done and suspect it will be a case of pick'n mix as the fancy takes me!
Enjoy Peter Kay @Chrisca50 - one of my favourite comedians.
Hope your dental inspection went well @scarlet55. Your DD situation sounds all too familiar.
@carolbee - I had to google the Dennis Severs house. It sounds fascinating.
What a great present idea for the fire starters @AlwaysAllie.
@remmie - I haven't seen any lights up round here yet which is unusual as they normally appear at the beginning of the month.
Thanks for the carol @-taff, such a jolly one.
Right, I'm off to decide which housekeeping jobbie is the most urgent so I'll wish everyone a good day. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x
SIL (DH’s sister) is visiting today so I have tea and mince pies at the ready. Other SIL may be woken up later today - they changed her ABs yesterday so fingers crossed her pneumonia is under control. Will wait for news later. We sorted out paperwork last night and DH took 3 big bags to the tip along with 15 sacks of leaves as we’d filled the garden waste wheelies. That is only a quarter of the garden de-leafed, but definitely the worst part as they were 1m deep in places. The blower is certainly noisy and definitely made for a smaller plot but it’ll be useful for small areas.DH is helping DS1 with his bathroom tomorrow and Monday so I will stay home and sort out the Christmas decs.Sorry to hear about DGD @dp1 such a shame but particularly at this time of year/school calendar ☹️Hope the snoozers enjoy their break x
Great news about the car @nannywindow 😊
Have a good day everyone

Morning all from Mehefinland
Nan - I'll swap you the weather!! Only 20-30 miles away from you but it so different here at the moment - horizontal misty rain and a strong wind which is only going to get stronger. It must have had its weet a- bix
Spent a long time sorting winter clothes for our Afghan population yesterday - they have a resettlement type camp just up the road - so 2 huge bags of Dawn's coats, winter woolies etc went to the collection centre .There was an appeal for winter clothing, as many of them are just in the clothes they stood up in. These people (and their families) are the ones who aided our troops during the conflict and are being mercilessly hunted down by the Taliban- they have some horror stories according to the CO of the unit. I met some yesterday in the post office buying ice creams!! Brrr!
Xmas cards are finally done - it was an emotional procedure especially just signing my own name after all these years. Those that needed posting have gone -some winging the news to those who would not have known. I struggled with my schoolboy French on one, and after I had sent it a friend said there's a translate system on google. I wish I had known as my attempts were pretty pathetic - oh well I can't get it back now.
Hugs and spoons as always and especially DP1's little person.
