I'm looking to book travel insurance for a trip where I've booked separate flights and accommodation. My accommodation can be cancelled up to the day before arrival, so I need insurance in the event that my flight gets cancelled/heavily delayed on the day of departure and I can't make it to my accommodation. Happy to pay the right cover. Please can anyone recommend a company? Thanks

Depends on your needs and if you want the gold standard or cheap and cheerful. Different providers target different demographics so price alone isn't a great judge of quality.1

There doesn't seem to be a way to narrow it down though. When I was looking for consequential loss cover it did seem to need to trawl through each provider in turn till I lost the will to live.
Lots of articles telling you what you needed, but none telling you where to find it..All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I like using InsureAndGo. I find their Silver policy very comprehensive and it covers a wide range of medical conditions and activities. If your flights get delayed/cancelled you can usually get compensation/refund for the flights from the airline. Accommodation providers, from my experience, tend to be understanding and let you cancel due to the circumstances. Where they don't let you cancel, they usually let you reschedule.
