I am retired and 55 next year.
i have a cash ISA with T212 and considering moving some to a S&S ISA as part of my retirement income plan.
is this generally a good idea ? Even more so now savings rates are reducing ?

Other than potential losees, or low growth, are there any other disadvantages or issues to look out for taking retirement income from a S&S ISA vs. Cash ISA
Does it make sense to have both with the same company for ease and timing of transfers ?
Is it best to get away from T212 and into something like H&L or Vanguard?
People keep telling me just choose a good indexed tracker fund that tracks the market. What does this mean ? Can someone give examples of these for Vanguard, H&L or T212

In general it makes sense to invest long term money and save short/medium term money, so it would be more typical to move from S&S to cash when getting closer to needing access to the funds, rather than the other way round?dont_use_vistaprint said:I am retired and 55 next year.

This is primarily because of investment volatility, i.e. most don't want to be forced to sell investments when they've substantially lost value, although your casual reference to 'other than potential losses' might suggest that you don't consider this to be significant?2 -
Still fairly long term though , 10+ years & no I wouldn’t risk money in S&S that I can’t afford to lose.eskbanker said:

i guess the rates on return on Cash have been okay but if they are heading to 3% then long term having some in s&s might be betterThe greatest prediction of your future is your daily actions.0
