NHS blue badge parking

For clarity, this is from the gov website, with the relevant sentences highlighted
Who can use the badge?
The badge is for your use and benefit only. It must only be displayed if you are travelling in the vehicle as a driver or passenger, or if someone is collecting you or dropping you off and needs to park at the place where you are being collected or dropped.
Don’t allow other people to use the badge to do something on your behalf, such as shopping or collecting something for you.
- You must never give the badge to friends or family to allow them to park for free, even if they are visiting you.
- You should not use the badge to allow non-disabled people to take advantage of the benefits while you sit in the car.
- It’s a criminal offence to misuse a badge. This includes people other than the badge holder taking advantage of the parking concessions provided under the scheme.
In my case, I cannot park up, display my badge and sit in the vehicle whilst my wife recently went to her NHS appointment in Asda recently ( I went in with her for support. )
Had it been the other way round, she could sit in the vehicle whilst waiting for me, and display the badge or badge + clock , or she could come in with me ( regardless of who is driving. )7 -
Maybe not on these boards but it is in real life.Coupon-mad said:
No it isn't.unforeseen said:maybe not in these boardsThere's nothing in the OP to say that hubby was even with her. It's a fairly common attitude to think that the blue badge can be used even if the holder is not present
None of us here think that.0 -
It isn't "common" in real life. It's rare.unforeseen said:

Unfortunately, I think you'll find that badges are frequently misused. For example a carer collecting a prescription for the holder might think it's ok to use the badge whilst the holder stays at home... For clarity, it's not ok to do this.Coupon-mad said:

i think you'll find that is relatively rare. Hence why such cases sometimes make the news and there are prosecutions (correctly so).

Yes it's a headache that Local Authorities have to tackle but it's neither frequent nor common.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for comments. It was her husband's appointment and he was with her of course. Poor soul is suffering from mesothelioma , 2 worn out knees and cataracts so this is another headache they don't need.2
