V5c misspelt name first name and surname

Hi, I've received a PCN from council for bus lane contravention.

However the PCN is with the name spelt wrong. So for example say my name is spelt Ben Larem the V5c is showing as Bem Laren. And so is the PCN since they get there information from DVLA.

Would this PCN still be valid and need paying or could they still chase me for it? I wasn't even the one driving.

If misspelling your name on the V5C was loophole to get out of PCNs, we would all be doing it!. So yes it will still be valid.

MSE only handle private parking issues, this really needs to be posted on FTLA: https://www.ftla.uk/

You are responsible for making sure the information on the VC5 is correct and up to date, so it is your error not the LA’s.
  • How can they legally chase me if my name isnt correct?

Surely the charge asks who was driving. ?

I cannot see how 2 spelling mistakes can win this unless Nick " Mr Loophole" Freeman was representing you

But anyway, you need to take it to the FTLA parking forum

Because as I previously said the error is yours not theirs. Now that you are aware of the error you should get the V5C amended.

If you were allowed to be let of traffic offences simply because of a spelling mistake on the V5C lots of people would be ‘accidentally’ getting their names slightly misspelled on them.
