Yeah I’m guessing it’s just one of them things and I don’t meet the criteria, can’t see it being anything to do with CIFAS as I’m getting other accounts be that current accounts or credit cards just fine, recently opened a new credit card in the last week and also a current account in november time I think it was so would think I’d struggle getting them if it was CIFAS related, also currently hold around five current accounts as well.

Unless I'm mixing you up with another poster, wasn't it you whose chequered credit history includes a default and a CCJ?

    Edit: yes:

That’s correct it does at the moment, currently on a rebuild of the credit history, could that be a reason for chase rejecting me, even though I assumed they didn’t do credit checks?.

Do your credit files (with any of the agencies) show any searches?

I don’t think they do from chase no, but I haven’t checked them all thoroughly but I assume not as I’m pretty sure they don’t credit check, which was more to my surprise for not getting accepted for an account.

My Wife fist got refused today, just a message on the screen saying they can’t open an account for her. No idea why, she has really good credit history, no black marks at all.
I’ve already got a chase account in my name, we have 3 others in joint names. We wanted this one to take advantage of the saver booster rate for new account holders.
I’m wondering if it’s because we’d swapped phone before making the application, I changed my mobile number on the app and then transferred the app. Before making the application on my wife’s phone that used to be mine. The app didn’t object to the phone number being used, if that is the problem it should’ve said something like “number in use, enter another”
really at a loss, filed an appeal, if we don’t get the account st least we may get an answer but no time frame given.

Update on our refusal, Chase sent a message asking my wife to delete the app and try again.
we did and this time was accepted. I think their software was reading the driving license and was seeing the title as being her name ie. Mrs.
    anyway all sorted.
so if you have been refused give them a call via the help button which still works even if they’ve not opened an account for you.
Very happy to have our 5% variable for 12 months.
