I tried to open a chase account today and they have come back and said I can’t open one but I’ve never had one before, they said to check credit reports but I’m surprised by this as I thought they didn’t do a hard check, anyone else experienced this?.

Apparently they soft check but don’t hard check that’s the odd thing about being refused, but when I was refused it said refer to my credit reports but why say that if they don’t hard check, I have just opened 2 new bank accounts with other providers not sure if that’s maybe why?.0

Chase was the 4th current account I opened within a short period of time. I've now done 10 in 9 months and not been rejected for any. Might be something else flagged up.tomxlisa said:

It’s definitely a strange one but I do already have 5/6 current accounts and the chase account would of been the 7th so maybe too many accounts, I’ve just opened a lloyds and nationwide account so can’t see there being anything serious wrong with my credit files unless that’s why it got rejected cause the recent applications.HillStreetBlues said:

TBH 10 current accounts in nine months is a bit unusual even for money saving experts1

Yeah think that’s what I’m gonna have to do, I’m just a little over worrying now as to why, I’m thinking maybe it was cause a CIFAS or something but surely if it was I wouldn’t of been able to open the recently nationwide and lloyds accounts?.wmb194 said:
