SIM only tariffs
I have just bought a new phone (my first smartphone) and have been looking at Smarty SIM only plans.
The cheapest one seems to be £6 month which would do me o.k. but I was curious about the "Social" tariff at £12 a month! It doesn't seem to offer any more for that price so I couldn't work out the benefits.
I thought a "Social" tariff would be much cheaper or have I misunderstood the meaning of this plan? Could someone she'd some light on this?

Social in this meaning probably relates to Social Media, so might get you free date when using SM.Life in the slow lane1

Voxi (Vodafone network) are pretty cheap - 80gb for £10 a month & your social media usage doesn't come out of that.

I pay £4.50 per month on a 5GB 12 month contract with Lebara.

What network(s) work where you are / go a lot?
Also what use will you make of it? Mainly calls and texts, use on WiFi at home and in locations like stores, restaurants and hospitals?
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cheap-mobile-finder/sim-only/ has some pretty good deals.
You'll need to guess how much data you will use... I use very little. The other month I went to a holiday caravan site with poor to non-existent wifi when I used it as a mobile hotspot for tablets etc.,. with my wife. Then I nearly went through all the month's 5GB data allowance in the week away.0 -

@moonpenny The £6 per month deal with Smarty is for 5gb of data I believe.
From what I can see, this link is still working which offers 5gb of data with Lebara on the Vodaphone network at £1.35 per month for 6 months, thereafter £4.90 per month:

If it's not working, then this link offers 5gb of data with Lebara for £1.48 per month for 3 months, thereafter £4.95 per month:

Ofcom website has quite a bit of info about it: https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-and-broadband/saving-money/social-tariffs/1 -
Thank you all! Some food for thought here, I will take a look at all the deals mentioned.
I am a bit lost where phones are concerned as I have used a "none smart" phone for years on a Vodaphone payg so I will take a look at the Lebara plan.0 -
You might find it cheaper via SIM Only Deals: Compare our best in November 2024 - Uswitch"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
