Faded sofa (sofa.com)

I purchased a sofa in November 2023, and it was delivered in January 2024. Despite adhering to the recommended care instructions, the cushions have developed patchy and uneven fading. A technician visited and reported that there were no manufacturing faults found and the issues appear to be consistent with normal wear and tear of the fabric. I disputed this under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods are required to be as described, fit for purpose, and of satisfactory quality and noted that it is unacceptable to attribute this issue to wear and tear, given the short amount of time I have had the sofa. Additionally, I was informed that the fabric on my sofa has been discontinued, so it is not possible to produce new covers for the existing cushions. I have now been offered 10% of the original cost £319.40 - do I accept this or push further as it will cost me far more to rectify?

You could commission your own inspection and hope it comes to a different conclusion. You'd then go back to the retailer to ask for a resolution and if it came to a section 75 claim (did you pay for any of the sofa on a credit card or on finance?) or a court claim, you've got your own evidence.0

If you can find an independent sofa maker in your area, they may be willing to examine the fading (for a fee).0
