Thank you to those who have posted so far and a very Happy New Year to all!

For those with one or more small children ... this time will pass Grasshoppers! I had three under fives at one point... they are now 22, 20 and almost 18 and at last I can celebrate New Years Eve going out with friends for a few glasses of bubbly without spending a fortune on babysitters (which in the 'good ol' days, post-Christmas we never had the money for)! Now it's my children ringing me to make sure I am safe and not too drunk!

Generali... you've completely ruined my fantasy of you by telling the ages of your children... I'd assumed (from your name) you were a kindly old buffer... batchelor of the parish, probably in your late 50s early 60s, ex commisioned officer gone into high city finance! I pictured you with a handle-bar moustache wearing plus fours and tweeds! With children that age it's more likely to be 4 day old stubble, vomit stained shirts and child-proof jeans!!!!

Doozergirl I hope you get better soon... take care of yourself... difficult I know with wee ones around demanding attention but good luck and get plenty of rest whenever you can!

I'm actually named after an alarm clock (long story).

I tend to avoid the vomit stained look - I'm generally pretty well kempt (as I hope those that have met me will attest to). The plus fours and tweeds will have to wait until the hedge fund pays off (if it does) when I plan to spend my time walking around with a shotgun, shouting at the spaniels. Not sure what they'll make of that in the Barbican.

Not sure what Mrs Generali would think of other people having fantasies about me!
