Hi there, we purchased a used car via distance selling for my disabled son just over a week ago. The vehicle has developed a serious mechanical fault. We have written to the dealer advising that we wish to reject the vehicle under the 30-day rule (we also included a copy of an independent report we had done on the vehicle). My question is that the dealer is stalling, and we believe he is trying to push us out of the 30-day return window What are our rights if he does succeed in not assisting us? . Sorry I hope this makes sense I am so tearful about this because of my son who was so excited about getting the car.

Once you raise the issue the clock stops. So any delay makes no difference.
Was the car delivered to you, or did you pick it up?Life in the slow lane1 -
Thank you so much for your reply it was delivered. We do not live close to our son and the dealer was over 150 miles from him0

Read the CRA 2015, and appraises the dealer of the relevant section. They may by playing with your “ignorance”. Not saying you have any.
Sending him the CRA applicable section will let him know you are deadly serious. Did yo have the letter signed for ?Mortgage free

If it was all by bank transfer then you're pretty much on your own in your battle with the seller ... if you'd paid even a small part by credit card you'd have had Section 75 protection for the whole amount, so would have been able to get the credit card provider involved.
It might be worth looking up this company (and the main director names) on Companies House to see how long-standing the company is, and whether these directors have a history of folding companies and starting again. That might help tell you how much of a battle you're in for, and your chances of recovery even if/when you win.
