  • Come the middle of Jan, if anyone is offering 4%+ on savings accounts (not regular savers) I’ll be moving the bulk of mine over. I’ll keep posted. Chase will drop to 3.5% potentially more.

Is that Monmouth? They are offering 4.15% on their regular saver for new customers.

Best regular savers for new customers out there? I've seen nothing like the 7.5% on Zopa (which I had to open a current account with) but had an ISA with them.

Yes, that's Monmouthshire BS.  They currently don't offer any good products.

There are still some regular savers available at decent rates https://www.moneysupermarket.com/savings/goals/?goal=SAV_CASHISA&mrasn=1344008.1665882.U62gMtb6. (select 'all', scroll down to the bottom and select 'show me these accounts')

The Principality BS 6 Month RS is still available at 8%. This is set to go NLA shortly, probably next week so may be worth grabbing.
  • This is the only post I will make on this forum. I've tried the first two high-interest accounts touted by MSE. I was obliged to supply full personal and banking details to both.

Cygnet Bank's app (1.4/5 stars on Play Store) doesn't work. They didn't send a passcode or QR code, and don't reply to emails - god forbid anything should go wrong with the account.
Plum (whatever) only work with a short list of high street banks. They put this list on the last page of their application process - which is commendably slick, especially compared to Cygnet Bank. Again, sharp practice not encouraging.

Will I try a third time with an MSE recommended account? I don't think so. The resemblance of late-stage capitalism to a collapsing Ponzi scheme becomes ever more apparent.

    Bye, everyone.
