I’m in need of knowledge:
I need to find a good heating solution for 10 small one bed apartments. Now I have 3 phase electricity going into the building and all the electrics are being wired now.
i was thinking this (no gas going into the building)
Dimplex quantum HR heaters
each flat to have a
100RF in the living room and a 50RF in the bedroom
Hot water will be via a vented  water storage cylinder Advanced ETS 160 (only showers in the flats)
these flats will be used for mainly Air B&B
but these are expensive so I’m looking to answer the following two questions-
1, is this the best heating system? And if so what’s the latest model?

2, the setup? What tariff should I get as I will
be paying all the bills so it will be on one supply on economy 7
im thinking octopus energy they do a EV tariff that offers 7p pkw at night?

any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks

That tariff is only available if you have an EV and, more importantly, it is a domestic tariff and your building is a commercial one so you will need to find the most cost effective business rate. I am not sure if there is an E7 type tariff for business and if not storage heaters may not be the best option.

PS. I have reported the post to get it moved to the main energy board, where you should get a better response.

I would have thought that electric showers would have been cheaper than a stored hot water system where you will have to overspecify the size of the cylinder to avoid complaints.

The Dimplex Quantum storage heaters are a very modern product with connectivity that will likely be useful to you. They are the latest Dimplex model. Buying 20 units should get you a sizable discount. Where did you get your prices from?
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

But it will be residential flats? so would I not be able to get a domestic taffif? Also if I was to install 2 x electric car chargers? Its just seems so much better value that octopus tarrif 7pm night rate?

Agree but all electric showers ive ever use have been rubbish, hence why I went down the vented system route I am buying these ETS 160LTS Advanced thermal store - from  advance appliances

As for the Dimplex Quantum heaters so many options and used ones around but I'm mindful of the series of them Y,G Etc etc - I have got some good prices on the new heaters but still very expensive for ten flats.

I currently have a 3 phase meter at the property but would like to get it changed to a 3 phase domestic one to get a better E7 tarrif

    It's not, though, it's ten AirB&Bs.

If you're going to pretend that it's ten separate flats rather than your own short-term letting business, each flat will need its own electricity supply, smart meter and energy account. To qualify for Octopus Intelligent Go, each flat will also then need its own EV charger. To each of which you connect an EV and charge it on a semi-regular basis, since Octopus will know if you're doing it (or not) and their T&C let them change your tariff if you don't.

Storage heaters are a great system for people who live with them, but that won’t include the majority of your customers, I’m afraid, and I suspect you will get a fair amount of complaints about the heating not being  easily controllable.

I have modern HHR storage heaters in a largish bungalow, and find them great for controllability. The modern HHR's have backup electric heating if needed (peak rate) but not needed to use this much.
Pay ~10p / unit on E7, and sell back to the supplier in the day from the solar panels for more.

As I said, NSH’s are great for people who live with them… what will happen in a holiday let type place is that the majority of people staying will use regular central heating systems, and they either won’t understand that turning the apparent temperature gauge up all the way won’t make an instant difference, or won’t work out the boost option - which isn’t always as intuitive as it might be, certainly on Quantums, IMO. By the time the owner or person who “turns” the place discovers the temperature setting up at 26°, it will already have taken that level of charge over the previous night, meaning the next people in probably have a sweltering first night through no fault of their own!

Is a heat pump a possibility? That would be the closest option to standard centra heating that most people would be accustomed to I guess.

I'm afraid otherwise the simplest option may well be simple panel heaters, although that in itself isn't a cheap option of course, but again, they are easy to understand and so aren't likely to be "messed with" to too great an extent. Anyone living with E7 and storage heaters will tell you, they really are quite a steep learning curve, and with the best will in the world, nobody in a property for a single night or even a few days is going to embark on that level of "learning". Also remember that you will be paying a higher rate for your peak hour electricity with whatever E7 style tariff you might be able to get, so that too needs to be taken into account.
