Danfoss Air Source Heat Pump not working

We have a Danfoss DHP AQ Maxi air source heat pump that has stopped working and doesn't provide heat for the house or hot water although the display window looks as though it is working. The symbol in the display window shows the hot water tank permanently filling but it doesn't heat up. We know that hot water takes priority but if we turn this off it still doesn't heat the house. This has been like it for nearly 3 weeks and the only engineer we can find came out on Friday but wasn't too sure and said he'd found the temperature limiter had tripped so reset it and said to wait and see what happened but it did nothing.  They're going to send someone else but not this week but maybe next...................  Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated. About 11 months ago my heat pump stopped being able to heat the leaving water above about 30 C.  This was too little to heat the house to its normal temperature and completely useless for hot water.  My installer came and diagnosed a refrigerant leak.  My heat pump was still under warranty and I was very fortunate to get a replacement model (which has been fine ever since). 

So my suggestion is to look and see how hot your heat pump is making the water.  If it's not as hot as it is supposed to be then it's possible that you have the same problem, although there could easily be other reasons.

Thanks for this and it could well be that's the problem.  The water shows as being 15C which is obviously too low and in fact went down to 14C just before I turned the whole thing off.  The heat pump is 12 years old so could well be coming to the end of its life and may need to be replaced.  The upside to that is that technology should have moved on and hopefully it will be more cost effective.
