Selling Overseas Shares

Hello,
I am not sure of the history, but my mother has some shares in Bluescope Steel, on the Australian stock market. Had them for years.
She is a British UK resident and just wants to sell them. I did look a few months ago and struggled as most needed you to be an Australian resident, and have an Australian address.
Any idea how we can sell these with minimal fuss? Has anyone done anything similar?

It is possible to trade Australian shares in the UK. So maybe talk to your broker:

Thanks. She doesn't have one, but looks like they can use ii to setup an account. Assume its a Trading Account she would need for the purpose to sell, withdraw etc? She doesn't want an account long term, just to sell.Mark_d said:It is possible to trade Australian shares in the UK. So maybe talk to your broker:

How are these held? I'm guessing a certificate so you'll likely have a hard time finding a British broker you can lodge them with.scottkeene said:

In the thread linked below the OP says they were referred to a firm called Euroz Hartley to assist in selling Australian shares.

Hi, as a follow-up. No joy. Euroz Hartley couldn't help as the holding is quite low. They recommended someone else, but they never got back to me. Any ideas?1

Who was the someone else? It might help someone in the future with the same issue.scottkeene said:Hi, as a follow-up. No joy. Euroz Hartley couldn't help as the holding is quite low. They recommended someone else, but they never got back to me. Any ideas?0
