Agree with Veteran. I was surprised a birch would have a TPO.But yes, if it has a TPO and you can find out online, get in touch with the relevant officer with those photos and your dogs stoood by the hole in the fence
The TPO could get you quicker response.
I would phone and say you are emailing with the photos. If you can get the response in writing that's best.I remember this who's property is it discussion.I used to have a massive amount of leaves from council trees in my garden and obstructing the path outside which led to a school. I was all for hovering them up and composting them but then it turned into 'they're council property you can't' and the fact the council didn't want to know. It was actually on the radio from someone else in the same situation.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -
As the fence is damaged won't your dog escape ? Needs fixing pronto. If they can't do it pay and send them the bill but......give them the chance to do it in the next few days first!2

There was a name and I found a number but it just goes to voicemail. Thanks

Silver birch landed in my garden! It's Council owned (well on verge of public road & outside my property) with a TPO. I've reported to Council highways response expected in 2 weeks!
As it has a TPO, I'd contact the district council Tree Officer.
Maybe send some photos of where it's uprooted or snapped. In theory, they might want to check that it really was felled by storm damage - and not felled by you or a neighbour (e.g. because it was an annoyance), and you're using the storm as a 'cover story'.
I suspect the Tree Officer will also have direct contact with the relevant people at Highways, as well as contacts with contractors who would clear this kind of thing.
TBH, I'd have thought there was also a way of contacting Highways urgently (and/or in an emergency) - I managed to when a large broken branch was balancing precariously on phone wires above a busy road.
But I suspect that both the Tree Officer and Highways are super busy today, because of the storm. Thanks; it's easy to contact highways to report the incident (and I have since spoken to them, they will get back to me) but not so easy to contact the Tree officer at district council. There is a telephone number that just goes to email, but no email address.Cheers

I have used it a number of times for advice and do try to reply to anyone that takes the trouble to engage. I guess not everyone picks up all the info. Many thanks to you too, but we are still struggling to get any helpful response from County Council highways (hants) or via voicemail to the tree officers. I do understand that this is busy time for them, but it would be nice to get tree removed before Christmas and most importantly scurr the garden/replace the fence panels. Thanks for your interest 🙂 👍

Have you got the name of the tree officers?Or official department and address?A piece of paper with the information and photos, why you need it delt with or permission to go ahead with mending the fence lands if physically on their desk for viewing where the voicemail and such can be ignored. If they still don't get back, at least to say they will deal at earliest opportunity, it at least gives you some proof of informing them so it's not all left indefinitely.I can't see a hole in the fence from your photo. Is this leaving you vulnerable to intruders?
