Yes I have collected most of the basics now, bit by bit, bottled water, food is mostly tinned so will last for a long time. I have one box with candles plus holders, matches, camping stove, kettle, wind up torch etc., I still need to order my wind up radio/power pack - thanx for the reminder.2

Thanks @savingholmes, I hadn't seen that advice, looks very sensible. I've got most things, but I'll put a power bank and bottled water on my shopping list. And I'll follow the advice to keep important documents handy. Hopefully we won't need it, but 'expect the best, prepare for the worst'"Think of many things, do one"

Ah … I recognise that stop start / not wanting to engage, brain. Firstly don’t be too hard on yourself, you’ve been through a lot over recent months with work changes, the bereavement etc. Others around you have been through similar even without the bereavement, so they won’t be performing well either, so you could think you only need to perform better than the average of them … 😉
The other thing to do is to deliberately mentally fly high above what is happening day to day between the people and look at what strategy the organisation is trying to achieve. Align the tasks you do and the focus for your energy with that strategy. By doing that I find a lot of the mental noise and ‘detritus’ falls away and I can concentrate and ‘do’. Also, are there any trusted colleagues who could ‘catch you up’ on what has been happening whilst you have been out? That might help you settle back into the work rhythm?I haven’t been deliberately buying for negative events as we have a lot of power cuts here anyway (ancient infrastructure locally) so we have a camping stove, candles and matches and tend to have reasonable quantities of potatoes and rice in the house but we could look at storing more still water and some cans.KKAs at 15.07.25:

Good advice KK re work.
4S and Sandy -On the disaster prep - I have some gas lighters and matches and candles. Need to look back at the list and see what else I still need.
It is such a relief about being in so much energy credit. I will hopefully also get a £50 credit from switching so I am hoping that means that I can get a bit of an energy refund and use that towards my US trip. It should also be a minimum of £70 less a year - and I get on the flex tariff up to 30% less than now. Naturally in trying to do a switch there's a problem with the address not being on the system - I had a similar issue last time I tried to switch - but hopefully it will get resolved. I need to wait for the system to update itself properly - but then will request a refund.
In putting the box in the garage I also realised I'd achieved more than I had thought in there in May - and if I just get rid of a couple of pieces of furniture waiting to go by the door it could be a real possibility for getting organised as the middle space behind it is clear and I have a lot of empty cube space. I'm hoping if the weather is kind to resolve that today and take them to the tip reuse shop on my way to meet my friend.
I've loaded the dishwasher. Now need to get dressed and moving.

You've been making great progress. I always keep enough food in to last us a few days, but don't store it separately, just work through it as normal so that it doesn't go out of date. I'm currently running things down to top it all up again ahead of the winter. We have power banks, candles, matches etc. I can't bring myself to store water though, that's where I would fall down! Though there was a burst main last week which affected some in the road, so it did bring it to my attention again!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". I think it's very easy sometimes to look at what we haven't done and despair, rather than look back at what you have done and celebrate it. Well I am going to be in different accommodation to Ex. Sharing an Air place witha pool with two of the fiancé's other relatives/friends. My accommodation costs are being covered which is a relief. No idea on food and excursion costs though....
I was offered a phased return for work which was a relief. Went to bed two afternoons though as I was exhausted. Due to do 75% hours next week but may take a day off on top.
One of my sisters is going to come next weekend and help me declutter and get more organised. Hopefully that will incentivise me to do some this weekend too. I want to let go of metal storage unit in the garage. Possibly some pictures that are by others too. Will see what I can donate to charity.
Off to exhibition with DD shortly.

Glad your accommodation costs are being covered. Also good that work is being reasonable."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2
