Today I finally registered my limited company name. Still to do register trademarks and secure social media names etc. Getting closer. Need to also set up business bank account but that is part of the package I just did so hopefully simple enough.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I look at the end of month figures to keep a calm
head over gains, I started my van SIPP in 2020 and you can see the end of month position and P:L and over time the gains have always outweighed the odd month or two losses
glad all the art going wellDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thanks LWAP - I see like me you've had portfolio drops - good that we are playing the long game!
I'm one of the lucky people get the Nwd3 £50 bonus. So glad I did that original bank switch! My new perfume arrived today - and its gorgeous. The scent is soothing - although I'm very slightly allergic to all scents - I am hoping my body becomes desensitised enough that it isn't an issue. It was £50 - so hearing about the bonus relieved some of the guilt I'd been feeling. I've also been burning a candle much of today - sea salt and sage as I needed a 'lift'.
Work has been hard. I also burned some chips by forgetting about them and had to cook new ones. Kind of summed up the day. Had counselling appointment today which was positive - shared my frustrations and ended up on a laugh. Done a little art this evening. I have my art group tomorrow.
I've also been watching worst house on Utube - love it. Made me feel better about my house related spends. The garage door should be replaced with an electric one in a couple of weeks time for £1.4K. I'll then get the joinery done - due to be £1.8K. The latter want a £300 deposit - but waiting until Friday to pay it as it will make things slightly easier. The garage door people will accept a CC so will put on a CC for now and keep the £ in savings - or pay on a cashback card and then clear - I need to do my maths to see which is best.
Once the new garage door is on - I should be able to re-organise my belongings and store some of what is in my current utility area in the garage and also free up some space in my back L shape art / kitchen area. The electrician is ignoring me still so need to find someone else - but it is a big pressure paying out these kind of sums. I'm glad I spread out the work over the last year as I couldn't cope with continuous workmen and didn't want to move out at any stage but sometimes wonder if getting in a builder to organise the lot would have been easier and possibly cheaper. Probably not though based on the quotes I got... and some builders add say 10% for the value of them organising all the different trades...
Ideally I want to paint the front room before the joinery work - so may leave a gap of a week to maximise the chance of getting it done in time.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I had some more positive £ news today as I received £30 cashback for my s&s isa. It doesn't make up for the £590 fall in that account but I will take it.
Got paid today so £1k should go to avcs so hopefully buying at 'sale' prices.
It just underlines that we can't make £ too big of a focus. We have to have fun along the way which I achieve through art.
Starting to get letters and emails about my new company. Lots of life admin for that too.
The weather has been brighter this week. Went for a walk yesterday and today art group. Lots of flowering bulbs outside and a few flowering orchids inside...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

You are absolutely right about balancing having fun with focussing on £'s.I've been investing for a few years now (how lah di dah does that sound 🙃) and I now manage my curiosity and only check quarterly. By and large things end up going in the right direction. The plummet caused by covid was scary but so was everything else about life 5 years ago when the first lockdown happened.Glad you are relaxing with art.6

I’m learning a lot about a sensible attitude to investing just by reading this thread. Thank you for sharing your experiences.Hope you are still enjoying your art 😊

Love the comment about buying at "sale prices" which, having recently put some cash into my steadily falling pension pot, really resonated with me.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -
Thanks Jwil, Blackcats, KK and Watty
S&S aren't fun currently. Thank God I have cash ISAs too.
Yesterday I didn't even get dressed. I didn't end up sleeping all night either - I must have forgotten to take my anti-d med - and by the time I realised at 3am - it was too late. I got to sleep at 7am and got up just after 11. Managed a shower, make up and getting dressed today though so that was positive. I've recorded some video for my channel. Still need to check if it is usable / needs editing - but all progress. Caught up with DD and DS today by phone which was also positive.
I've also found an old blog of mine with over 100 posts - so I am gradually working through, copying elsewhere and then deleting - as I don't want it to mess with my 'brand'. Some of the material could be re-purposed and re-used in future - but I also realised there were photos of my kids on there - and given they are now older - and I am more aware of their rights - I'd prefer their photos weren't available online!
I'm just checking in with my parents too...
