Thank you @elsiepac.
This will complete the year using WW2 ration quantities.
I am keeping Christmas as my Grandparents would have done without any of the junk food from the supermarket aisles. I think a medium sized chicken will be a treat, with British seasonal vegetables.
I did consider making Mock turkey with parsnip and sausage meat, or a cottage pie with turkey mince.https://the1940sexperiment.com/2023/09/24/mock-turkey-wartime-christmas-recipe-no-215/
I think we have enough brandy for baking, sherry for a trifle, and some Irish Cream we were given but didn’t open last year. We have vintage homemade mead from a beekeeping friend and bottles of sloe gin made over several years.
My grocery budget is for food and a little alcohol for two pensioners.December budget £5 a day, £155.

Could you put me down for £500 please for the month to feed 2 adults, 15,13 and 9 year old boys/men!
We've already got the majority of snacks/drinks/treats in, just need the fresh stuff. Will be mostly shopping online with home deliveries to avoid the chaos at the supermarkets, but will need to do at least one trip to Ald! to use some vouchers and one to L!dl to use £5 off £25 spend voucher.Grocery Challenge 2024

Thanks for the new thread, @elsiepac. Your managing of the Grocery Challenge is much appreciated.
Please put me down for £160
That’s for (virtually) all grocery shopping for two people, including toiletries and cleaning products. It won’t include the Christmas goose, which is covered by the Christmas savings fund (we set aside £20/month).
Our month will run from 1st to 31st December.

I'm going to go for a bigger than normal budget for this month as we'll be doing a fair bit of entertaining and will definitely want some festive treats (medjool dates and lebkuchen in my case).
£500 for December please

Not looking brilliant for December here if I am to stay under my £3000 annual budget. The balance (allowing for Friday's milk bill) is £419.87. I do have a separate pot for Christmas butcher so it is possible, but not guaranteed. I will almost certainly need more milk and cream this week as I'm in the process of making several batches of honey fudge!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £2664.85 out of £6000 after March (44.41%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £677.62/£3000 or 22.59% of my annual spend so far

Please put my budget for December as £500 without anything i deem to be Christmas extras such as the joint, beers etc
This is to cover 2 adults, 2 chidren aged 4 and 2, one of which has allergies (so require lots of expensive full of cr#p dairy free items) and cleaning, household stuff (loo rolls etc) and drinks for my husband and i. I no longer drink alcohol but enjoy AF beers however my DH does still have some beers.
Cant seem to be able to do mentions sorry....Follow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay

Hi Elsiepac,
Could you put me down for £230 again please?
I do have a Christmas budget so anything bought for the Christmas meal (which is at my cousin's but we buy a bit each) will come from that, as will Christmas drinks/lunch at work. Anything bought to be consumed at home will come from grocery budget though.
thank you,
Dmna
