Nothing spent so far - thank goodness for a store cupboard. I may be having eldest dgd over Xmas, well Xmas eve and Xmas day, so looking forwards to that and she's an 'easy' eater and I know what she likes so that's fine I can put together a few meals for the two of us.
I've already made ice cream and sorbet, scones and butter to begin with and have enough in the cupboards to make fudge, shortbread and jars of mincemeat to make mince pies when its a bit nearer the big day. I'll eat them all if I make them too early!!! yes and frozen ones take minutes thaw!!!

Morning all
@diminua re the chilli’s, I tend to put my fresh ones in the freezer straight away and cut off what I need and put back. Otherwise in my experience they soon go off. I have too many jars of this and that in the fridge to add any more 🤣
Anyway today’s shop
We have visitors that are just ‘popping in’ at the weekend, so bought bits and pieces for the occasion.
Also the usual £1.50 box of f and v which reduced my main spend. Today I had 5 bulbs of garlic, oranges, bananas, cauliflower, tomatoes and carrots. So only had to buy potatoes. Still have bits from last week.
Just a free cake today.
Discounted muffins, quiche and mushrooms.
Also had 3 sparking fruit crush bottles for the price of two. Wouldn’t normally buy that sort of thing as too much sugar. Thought it would do at the weekend for hyping up the visitors 🤣
Anyway today’s shop with all the usual bits, dairy, baked beans, cornflour and bread flour.
Total bill £38.83
Total so far £416.20/£600
Have a great day

£104.37 spent on non-perishables at L!dls this morning - ouch! - but some of this will still be keeping us going well into January. As Dgd decided to arrive safely early this morning, I'd thought I was going to be too excited to do the full monthly shop, but the store was fairly empty so I just got on & did all the usual things on the grounds that then they're done!Angie - GC Jun 25: £309.06/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)8

We shopped at Asda for fruit, veg and milk. They had nice oranges and courgettes on offer, and Brazil nuts, (2x200g for £3.50, £8.78 a kilo.) I buy nuts and dried fruits regularly so they are not specially for Christmas. £15.62 spent. We had to replace the microwave, it gets a lot of use. A basic one cost £49 at Asda.
We stopped at Aldi for frozen blueberries, £1.99 for 400g, Marzipan, double cream, dates, almond extract and ground almonds, all cheaper than at Asda.
I got sprouts and kiwi fruit 30% off. £11.86 spent.
Budget £155, £25.48 spent, £129.52 left.6 -

£231.62 left.
£6 at a local independent supermarket on 8 very large persimmons. Each will be able to be cut in half and be a nice portion so not badly priced in my opinion.
£2.30 at Waitr*se on cheese for OH, would have been £2.80 but we had a 50p coupon for it. OH got his 'free' coffee.
£24.68/£248.
£223.32 left.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy4 -
Congratulations on the safe arrival of your granddaughter @thriftwizard.I've been umming and ahhing about what to set for December's budget. On one hand we are out and about and visiting family and friends for a few evenings this month so technically less cooking at home and on the other hand we will have visitors and food contributions to make for a couple of family get togethers. So rather than spend the rest of the month procrastinating I'm setting our usual £350 budget and will aim to have festive fun and still have some £'s left in the kitty to take into January.
I have done a Lidl shop and won't need anything else until next Tuesday.
budget £350.00. Balance remaining £2876 -
We have some spend to declare before it gets too many to remember.Sainsburys - first shop of the month to cover bulk purchases of everything (meat, pasta, bread items, kids snacks, tins, fresh fruit and veg, dairy in bulk, not dairy in bulk, AF beer in bulk etc you get the jist) which came in at £163.30 (which is eye watering) - so much hasn’t been touched though tbh
Morrisons £20.25 (nappies, dairy free spefic milk for my son, loo roll and gravy)
Aldi - 3.44 (crisps and bread that OH declared we needed)
Lidl - £22.99 which was for roast dinner extra bits, milk, fruit and a £1 Santa which was meant to be free but my husband didn’t quite get it 🤦🏼♀️
Tesco- £7 bread (speficially for my son) and actually not sure what else (OH did the shop)
Lidl - £43.60 - to include 2 costly items and then free sweet bakery item, free crate of satsumas (net totally in tact and had 25+ satsumas) Some Christmas bits, fruit, fresh veg, dental sticks for the dog, washing liquid (£10odd) olive oil (£7.29!) cashews, pumpkin seeds, kids snacks, cheese strings and crackers.Total spend £260.58
Considering I fed 9 with a roast dinner this weekend just gone, I’m not surprised about the amount of veg we’re getting through. I’m grateful for the bulk purchase sack of spuds for £12 for 25kg as by now I think I’d have spent that on probably 10kgsFollow here for the daily life of an ADHD mum with 2 children and a new mortgage to pay
