Jeans and T shirt for me and into my 70's. Definitely not shirt and jumper like my dad wore.
No jumper, not even in this weather? You are not from Newcastle are you ? :)

I tend to go for a sort of smart casual look, probably because I had picked up this type of dress sense at work before I retired. Even on a zoom call it was not the done thing to look too casual, although ties had largely gone out of the window a few years ago.
To be fair it is more casual than smart since I retired, but I nearly always wear a shirt of some kind.
    Also I never wear trainers.
My Dad and FIL were quite old fashioned and both wore a shirt and tie, with trousers and proper shoes, so I do not look like them
  • @elsien - that's brilliant.
  • Glad to hear we're all, or nearly all, avoiding the slacks and jumpers aisles at M&S!!!

Not sure what the issues with jumpers is. My offspring both have large collections. It is definitely not an 'old thing' to wear jumpers.
In fact it is very MSE to wear warm clothes/jumpers in the house and turn the heating down !

Slacks are a different matter of course

Oh no issue. I wear them myself. Chunky knitwear. But not the v neck variety.

Nothing wrong with Jumpers, mine however are nearly all birthday and Christmas presents from the MIL, she is quite good at it however !. Cant remember the last time I purchased a jumper for myself, think it may have been a tank top circa 1975

I think it unlikely I'll turn into my mother fashion-wise (or lack of), I just hope I don't get as irritable and unreasonable as she could be!

Although I still SAY many of the things both she and Dad used to say. "Don't do as I do, do as I tell you" was one ...

  • As a teacher I always end up using the same sayings as my teachers did.

I never tire of them. The kids however......
