Are you sure it’s not going onto program 2 at 10.30 am when you want pm? Is it preset to the 24 hr clock so needing 22.30 for the evening change?
No it says am and pm
  • When we replaced an elderly relatives central heating we were totally confounded by the differnt modes, programmes and a whole host of complex stuff. Worse, some settings reverted to a previous program at the next prog time change automatically and some didn't. The supplied manual was hopeless.

This link https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XICUbnDaUYU is a video explaining step-by-step settings on the official website. I don't know if it will be helpful.
You might find better, more useful information and videos if you google "ESRTP4RF  ESI".

Last thought, the thermostat position in the house/room is very important. It only reads the temperature at the spot it's sitting. Move it just a few feet and it can measure something quite different. Trial and error then leave it where it works consistently.
    Good luck.

Make & model of the programmer ?
It might be a settings issue that is easily fixed with a magic incantation (button presses).

I had a look at one of the instruction videos and it's certainly pretty horrendous; nothing remotely intuitive about the controls.  I suspect you were landed with that particular controller because it's cheap to purchase; not because it's easy to use.

There's a part of me that thinks ditching this and going for something like a nest which is easier to use would save a lot of stress and aggro...

Yes, the nest isn't the cheapest, but how much do you value not swearing for the 100th time at the thermostat?

To illustrate, this is the screen I see on my phone when I want to set the schedule - I just drag the blobs

I have my heating set at 21 deg C from 07:45 to 23:30 and then 18 deg C overnight.

It now takes less than an hour to raise the temperature to 21 deg C whereas before the temperature could fall to 15 deg C during the night and could take over 2 hours to reach 21 deg C.

Thermostat aside, anyone else done a comparison regarding the overnight temperature and amount of time it takes to get up to the desired day time temperature.

We have been leaving the night time on 16°and have noted it can take at least 1.5 hours to reach 20.0°.

Thinking cost if we put night time up to 18° then find it takes shorter time to reach 20° during the day, it must have come on during the night thereby canceling out any financial savings......I believe?
  • You could check your half hourly consumption using an app such as Bright . Assuming you have a smart meter and it’s set for half-hourly. You supplier may show the same info if you are lucky
