Watching delivery drivers movements via tracking

I am waiting for an Amazon delivery and received a tracking link at 10am - supposedly for a delivery 10-11am
The van was still 40 miles away at 11am
I'd been following it for 2 hours until it finally arrived in my town
it is driving totally at random between drop off addresses
no pattern or plan at all
Will my delivery EVER be successfully made - and what do I do if/when it is not ?

I've learnt not to believe these delivery trackers. I've had them half a mile away and they turn up the next day.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Surely they must put the postcodes and house numbers in to a program that decides the best route for them ?This delivery guy is definitely lost or is purposely zig zagging in all directions0

possibly collecting items that have been returned to drop off points, lockers etc.0

Living in London, with its high density of people, we have the opposite problem, get told we are number 65 in the list and just the generic "before 10pm" message, look on the app and they're 5 streets away in then finally get the doorbell ring at 10:15pm after many hours of them moving 1 building along and stopping again0

I've noticed that in the last few months my amazon delivery driver seems to go to a couple of local shops before the very local to me deliveries. Could that be what he is doing. They seem to have had a system update too as they now misdeliver to a different street than the one they used to misdeliver to. The modern way to get to know your neighbours!

Lots of shops are drop points for delivery and returns, either for those that explicitly request it or those who arent in and the driver decides to use the shop as the safe place to leave it. They tend to be a later point in the round so that they've made space for the returns and so they only go once rather than having to go back again after they find some of the near by drops arent answering their doors.0

Absolutely none, do you hear?5

I gave up with the tracking also, waiting for something I needed quickly and watched the marker get closer and closer
then suddenly started moving further away before returning and then further away again.
I could see that the marker was 3 - 5 miles away with rush hour traffic it was going to be the best part of an hour so gave up
and minutes later he knocks on the door. I did wonder if they can see the person tracking their goods and drops you down
the list for fun. Maybe that is just something I would do.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
