Social media competitions that need you to tag someone

I have searched for this before, and shears come up with nothing, but surely others have similar.

There are so many competitions out there that want you to tag someone. I don’t want to annoy my friends who aren’t interested in comping by tagging them. Can we tag each other in these types of competitions? Given we know that person likes to enter competitions!?

in FB: You go onto one of the competition groups and ask for tagging partners. People who also do these comps will 'friend' you and you tag them and they tag you. I have half a dozen 'friends' I know nothing about except that they tag me in prize draws; this also means I can look on their profile and pick out ones they haven't tagged me in
You set up a 'set' of friends that you allow to see comps that you post so that those posts don't show to your regular friends
Or I guess you could ask for tagging friends here, but then people have to let you know who they really are

There used to be a thread on here as well where you could ask for friends to tag. I had a Facebook profile specifically for that so it didn’t impact on my proper friends, and maintained my privacy.

You can, but of note, Meta (both Facebook, Instagram and Threads) are changing their ad rules (which is what competitions fall under), not sure exactly when they come in but competitions that require someone to tag another user will be explicitly banned in the next few months. Businesses who operate them will find their accounts suspended and users who tag people in those competition will also get bans.
😯😯😯 the end of social media comping as we know it!?!

@MattMattMattUK could you post a link to info about this? Thanks

That's why so many advertisers are now asking you to sign up to their newsletter instead

Thank you. I heard about this ban a long time ago, and thought it had already been implemented, but companies were just blatantly ignoring it. I’m looking forward to it coming in, and hoping X implement a similar strategy, as I hate tagging people in that way.
