I have searched for this before, and shears come up with nothing, but surely others have similar.

There are so many competitions out there that want you to tag someone. I don’t want to annoy my friends who aren’t interested in comping by tagging them. Can we tag each other in these types of competitions? Given we know that person likes to enter competitions!?
You can, but of note, Meta (both Facebook, Instagram and Threads) are changing their ad rules (which is what competitions fall under), not sure exactly when they come in but competitions that require someone to tag another user will be explicitly banned in the next few months. Businesses who operate them will find their accounts suspended and users who tag people in those competition will also get bans.
😯😯😯 the end of social media comping as we know it!?!

@ MattMattMattUK could you post a link to info about this? Thanks
It will be somewhere in their guidelines, I remember getting a work email about it earlier this year, however I never run competitions for work so deleted it. I also was at a Meta event in London in a different capacity and they were talking about the changes, the tagging people in posts for competitions had been come up in feedback as a particularly annoying action from a users perspective and they felt it was time to ban it, which I agree with.

They also pointed out that they have no issue with liking and sharing posts, which they felt was perfectly reasonable, but it comes down to a matter of consent. If someone shares a post their friends have a choice to read it or not, however if someone is tagged in a post, especially when they are not actually in the image or post then that is involving them in a third-party's marketing campaign without their consent, which presents potential issues both morally and there was also some worry that it may also present regulatory issues as well, they were attempting to head those off with the tagging ban.
