I never go cheap on glasses. I am wearing them all the time and they are part of my look. Every 2 years the cost is £500 plus for at least two pairs. There is a savings pot for this amount. I have varifocal lenses and like interesting frames. At the moment I have 5 pairs in use, all different colours to go with different coloured clothes. Fortunately my prescription has hardly changed over the last few years so all are useable. I also have a couple of pairs of prescription sunglasses.
I also pay for the extra eye test scans. Eyesight is precious.
I have always found Boots Opticians excellent.
That's great, but this is a money saving forum.

I had a bad experience with Asda specs.  However judging from the comments I may have just been unlucky.

Well finally got my eye test and new glasses.

One pair of Nike frames. One pair of Converse. Total including test and eye scan £184.

Anyway, I found the converse frames at an online opticians and priced them up with varifocals and thinner lenses.

    Omg.....over £300 for one pair.

I asked Asda how they do it. The response was that when they were Walmart they'd negotiated volume deals and that was how everything was the same price and they are selling literally hundreds of pairs a week just in the one shop. They are fully booked every day with two opticians in the same branch.

For one location that is some turnover!
