Ladder hire?

Spotted a problem with the gutter where it’s not draining away.
We don’t have a ladder and the window upstairs opens the “wrong” way so we cannot access and clear the gutters from inside.
I have asked around but nobody seemed interested in this job unless it costs more than £250.
Anybody have experience of hiring a ladder or even small scaffolding? Thinking this would be a good opportunity for us to paint the wooden rafters/soffits, take our time and check the rest of the gutters.
Photos below (yes the gutter is full of frozen water!

Have you tried a local window cleaner - Some will "do" guttering and have long ladders.Yes, you can hire ladders from the likes of Jewsons & Speedy Hire, and they will charge for delivery/collection. You might find a cheaper option on Facebook market place.Tip - Get a ladder with a stand-off. Saves having to reach overhead and backwards which is a dangerous thing to do on any ladder. Scaffold towers are better, but they cost a lot more to hire (also compare the cost of a scissor platform). Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -
Was £50 for a hire of a 6m ladder when I looked inc any time delivery/collection, that was for 5 days, was a £5 cheaper for 1 day but then you'd probably want to pay the £5 for morning delivery else your day could be one or two hours. B&Q were more like £75.
To buy a similar length ladder was £150 so only need to use it twice to save money but dont have anywhere to safely store it.1 -
Thank you, FreeBear - sadly, we asked two window cleaners, they didn’t get back to us. The other two are fully booked (or not interested?).
During a recent local walk, saw a window cleaner, so chatted and he said he’s one of the few local guys and have been doing jobs for customers for over 20 years. I asked about adding our house to his window cleaning rota and he declined as he’s struggling for time. 🤷♂️
I also tried TaskRabbit, found a handyman with a ladder but even he’s suggesting that I hire a ladder because his ladder is only 4.5m.
I’ll keep looking though!
Thank you, DullGreyGuy. I have the same issue, no space and I don’t trust the ladders from the likes of Amazon! 50 quid isn’t bad and I guess a simple DIY plus no additional material costs.

We ended up not hiring one as it was decoration purposes and my wife finally accepted that we could do what she wanted without the need of a ladder but the £50 from her budget certainly helped the argument.1 -
If you have no space, another option to consider is a deal with a neighbour who also wants access to a ladder, and has got the space to store one. You might buy it together, and have an agreement that you can collect it from his property when you need it for jobs.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -
I'm sure there was an MSE article about community places that hire out stuff locally (although can't seem to find it now), the one near us had some interesting stuff, most of it £1 a day.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0
