Hello
I Followed the very helpful advice received on this platform and have had it confirmed by Black Horse and BMW (we had finance through Alphera) that we did pay the discretionary commission.

BMW have quoted my previous name and address in correspondence sent by email. I feel the address shouldn’t have been quoted, there’s no relevance at all, but I emailed back to advise my address has changed since the agreement was taken out and to only contact me via email (how I have contacted them for the claim). BMW have responded to ask for my updated address details.
I understand that from a GDPR perspective they need to keep details up to date but I’m not a current customer and they don’t need these details to process my claim. The finance ended in 2017.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Am I being too protective of my data?
TIA

The finance ended in 2017.They do need your details. AML rules can apply to complaints that may result in a financial payout. They also look to validate the bank details it will be paid to. The electronic systems require sufficient data to match to pass.
They also need to make sure you are the correct person and not a fraudster (as was seen a fair bit with PPI complaints).Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Am I being too protective of my data?Yes, you are taking it to far. Your address is in the public domain.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. Appreciate your thoughts on this one and I hadn’t consider re fraud claims.0
