Just popped back to give @SO a hug and (hopefully) some reassurance. An inheritance should not a be given. My late beloved DDad left my now late brother nothing - and that's quite hard to do in Scotland. He even wrote in his will the reasons why, I assume that his solicitor made him to do that because of the laws.Yes, spend it! I intend to do my best to spend the inheritance from my beloved DMum, she even left me a postcard telling me to enjoy what she left me. I may not manage it but will try my damnedest. There's no point in not living a comfortable life to leave money to ungrateful / unloving family. I'm sure that the money you now have was gained by hard work and saving, I hope that you can enjoy it.14

I'm with everyone else SO. I know it's not our decision to make but we can at least tell you what we would do and in your position I would spend, spend, spend and carry on with the decision you are thinking of making of leaving your house to the hospice. They all do a wonderful job and rely purely on public donations and fund raising.
I know this heart breaking problem has gone on for a long time SO but was your DS in contact at all when your lovely DH was so ill and eventually passed. If not then in my opinion he certainly doesn't deserve a penny from you. Surely he must realise this himself.
Take care of yourself SO xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
SO, I think it's a lovely plan to leave your home to the hospice who helped you. My elder brother has cut our 2nd brother out of his will & left everything to me & 3rd brother and our kids, as he has cut himself off from us.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

SO, I am in full agreement with everyone else on this subject, you don't have to leave anything to your son, - spend on yourself, leave it to the hospice, do whatever you want.
Time to think of yourself now xx12 -
Thank you for your support, it really does mean so much.
taff a cruise and warm weather sounds wonderful especially today it's so cold.
Gers yes we worked, saved and at times went without holidays etc . I've never inherited anything.
Chrisca, TA I didn't see my son when DH was so poorly and on end of life care. Even the last days in the hospice I was alone with my lovely DH. I did let my son know.If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.13 -

Well that says it all, doesn't it. Why should he get any of the benefit of you and your DH's hard work over the years after being so callous. YOU worked hard for it, so YOU enjoy it xx

If he couldnt even put himself out to visit his dad on end of life care really does say it all. You deserve better than that.xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"8
